Edwin Frericks has been active for three years at Springplank, an organisation that helps people redirect their lives. The father of two children and an experienced counsellor, he has found his way within the Intake & Advice team. \u201cI started at Springplank as a route counsellor,\u201d says Edwin. \u201cThat was a great time during which I was able to learn a lot.\u201d Still, he sometimes missed the space to give more attention to the candidates. \u201cI noticed that, due to the caseload and often complex situations among candidates, I could not spend the time on them that I wanted. You want to mean more, but there are now limits.\u201d<\/p>

He eventually found a new role internally: Intake & Advice. Here, Edwin has the opportunity to meet candidates during an initial introductory interview and then refer them to the counselling that suits them best. \u201cAfter candidates apply through the Walk-in on Fuutlaan, the intake interview is the first step in the process,\u201d he explains. \u201cWe have an hour to get to know someone and understand what they need. We talk about all areas of life - from addictions and mental health problems to social circumstances. It's up to us to quickly form a realistic picture.\u201d<\/p>

In his new role, Edwin continues to connect with candidates in a sincere way. \u201cAn essential principle for me is that I see someone as an equal human being, regardless of circumstances or behaviour,\u201d he says. \u201cMoreover, many people have already been through so much and have lost trust in help agencies. I want them to feel heard and seen despite everything.\u201d For Edwin, this is more than just the professional side of his job; for him, it is just as much about love and humanity. \u201cListening and giving attention from my heart, that difference, that's what it's all about for me.\u201d<\/p>

Since his team moved to a new location, Edwin has noticed that his work has gained even more depth. The short lines of communication with candidates, colleagues and chain partners contribute to mutual trust and make contacts easier. \u201cSome candidates I even see here every day, for example at the day care centre,\u201d he says. \u201cThat ensures low-threshold contact and gives them the confidence that we are really there for them.\u201d<\/p>

His work at Intake & Advice now allows Edwin to contribute to the success of others every day, in a way that appeals to both him and his candidates. \u201cIt remains a challenge and a privilege every day to meet people on their path and help them progress in the best way possible.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
